Steinway & Sons Upright Piano – Rare Natural Maple Finish
Serial Number: 472886 (Circa 1980/1981)
Condition: Vintage, Better Than New
Presenting an extraordinary investment-grade musical masterpiece: a vintage Steinway & Sons upright piano, crafted during a celebrated era of American piano manufacturing and finished in a rare, breathtaking natural maple.
With serial number 472886, this instrument was built in New York around 1980–1981. Pianos from this era benefit from exceptional, old-growth tight-grain woods that are no longer accessible to modern factories. This delivers a depth of tone, resonant power, and an iconic “bass growl” that new uprights simply cannot replicate.
Having undergone a meticulous, master-level optimization and regulation process, this Steinway is presented in “better than new” condition. It beautifully marries the unmatched soul and tonal character of aged artisan wood with the tight, flawless, and ultra-responsive action expected of a brand-new showroom instrument.
Key Features & Specifications:
- Cabinetry: A gorgeous, sought-after natural maple finish. The striking wood grain provides a modern, warm, and sophisticated aesthetic that stands out from standard ebony.
- Action & Touch: Fully regulated to original concert specifications. The touch is exceptionally fluid, precise, and highly responsive to the most delicate pianissimo or commanding fortissimo.
- Acoustic Elements: Features a pristine, unblemished accelerated soundboard and Steinway’s patented Hexagrip pinblock, providing superior tuning stability and a singing, brilliant sustain.
- Tonal Profile: Perfectly voiced to offer the classic, rich Steinway warmth, crystal-clear trebles, and a robust bass register that rivals many small grand pianos.
This instrument represents the pinnacle of Steinway craftsmanship, offering a rare aesthetic and a performance level that surpasses modern production models at a fraction of the cost of a new replacement. Perfect for serious pianists, discerning collectors, or a design-forward home looking for an uncompromising musical centerpiece.
