The best time to have your piano tuned is right before the show. In a concert hall, if there are two concerts per day, the piano gets tuned before each performance. To keep a piano alive it is a good idea to follow the heating cycle in your home. Twice each year is a minimum and the right time to get the piano tuned and serviced is when the heating cycle sets in during late fall and again at the end of the heating cycle in late spring.
